Automation Engineer
Location: 5050 Rivergrade Road, Baldwin Park, California 91706

Your tasks

  • Responsible for specifying, selecting, implementing, building, modifying, debugging, and maintaining a variety of process automation systems, devices, and fixtures;
  • Locate parts and maintain automated production equipment, such as electronic and mechanical test equipment;
  • Program PLC/Computer controlled equipment, autonomous soldering, fluid dispensing, parts cleaning, electronic and component assembly, electronic and pneumatic robotic devises, control circuitry, and material handling and packaging equipment;
  • Advise new programs engineering on part features needed to support the development and automated manufacturing of products and systems;
  • Support medical automation integration, validation and commissioning activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ processes, writing of SOPs and training manuals;
  • Evaluate, test, install, and maintain new automation systems, including tooling and fixtures;
  • Provide engineering support to plants on new and existing designs;
  • Attend program, staff, company, design review, ISO, and group meetings;
  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine and improve manufacturing processes, plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization;
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve Automation-related production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize costs;
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding spare parts purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status; review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities;
  • Recommend revision to methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards;
  • Design, build and coordinate construction of automated assembly equipment and inspection equipment;
  • Create instructions and standard operating procedures for use of implemented equipment;
  • Utilize DirectLogic PLC programming, Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD CAD software, MasterCAM CAM software, 4axis SCARA Robot programming, HMI programming, CMM programming, RCA, GMP, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to perform duties;
  • Serve as the sustaining engineer for implemented automation and material handling equipment;
  • Provide engineering support to quoting and capital request process with required layouts and concept design for automation related projects;
  • Interact with customers and vendors, participate and support safety initiatives, and participate and support lean initiatives.

Our expectations

  • Education: Master’s Degree – Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Production Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree).
  • Training: None
  • Experience: Three (3) years in the position above, as a Mechanical Product Design Engineer, as an Automation Engineer, or in a related occupation;
  • Other Requirements: Experience must include three (3) years use of the following: DirectLogic PLC programming, Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD CAD software, MasterCAM CAM software, 4axis SCARA Robot programming, HMI programming, CMM programming, RCA, GMP, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
