Manufacturing Technician I – 2nd Shift
Monday – Thursday (5:30 PM TO 4:00 AM)

Your tasks

Manufacturing Support

  • Ensure the production line receives top priority in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.  Unless specifically prohibited by a client, Manufacturing Technicians should specifically:
  • Attend a daily meeting on the line with the Cell Team to review the previous days production, any issues, and projected activities (including who is responsible for the action item and when will it be completed).
  • Review the visual production board several times daily for issues related to productivity, downtime, equipment issues, and scrap. 
  • Understand the scrap issues on the line.  Support the Manufacturing Engineer to pareto the scrap issues and with the Cell Team, create action plans to drive down scrap.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineers efforts to work with the Cell Team to help them improve processes, parts flow, balance issues, equipment issues, etc. to constantly improve productivity.
  • Provide first response to any documentation and equipment unscheduled maintenance issues that impact the production lines.
  • Assist the Cell Team on ensuring all Associates are trained appropriately for their work stations, including equipment set up and use. 

Assist the Manufacturing Engineer to help:

  • Ensure the Line layout encourages minimal WIP and emphasizes continuous flow.
  • Support the 5S initiatives by ensuring the table, equipment, wiring, etc. is laid out properly.
  • Ensure equipment and line is validated and qualified.  Support Maintenance to ensure that the equipment is maintained in a manner that maximizes equipment life and performance and minimizes impact to production.
  • Ensure that the require production paperwork is accurate and available for production.

Improve Quality.  Focus on product, process, and paperwork quality by incorporating the following activities:

  • Encourage each associate to understand their obligation to produce products that meet or exceed product specifications.
  • Encourage the production lines to be compliant with all applicable Quality policies and regulations.
  • Help the Manufacturing Engineer to ensure process improvements are implemented to increase product quality.
  • Help track scrap, prioritize actions, and track results on a daily basis.

Support efforts to manage material in a lean manner.  Specific actions include:

  • Work with Purchasing to anticipate materials needs or obsolescence as Engineering Change Orders are processed.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineer’s efforts in Product Development. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned including working on the line as needed and supporting the environmental program technician by taking particulate counts and other activities.

 

Our expectations

Job Experience

  • Manufacturing experience, preferable in medical device manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years related mechanical work experience.
  • Experience with MS Word/Excel

Education

  • High school education.  Good math skills a must.
  • Technical degree or equivalent desirable.
  • Blueprint reading preferred.
