Your tasks

  • Responsible for the safe operation of all Tool Room equipment.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and carrying out repairs as required on various types of tooling and related equipment.
  • Required to participate in team activities and perform duties safely in manner that reflects sense of “urgency” with respect to meeting deadlines and goals.  Will be part of the Machine Design and Build team. 
  • Play an active part in developing EDM (wire) machining on site and will be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Wire EDM operations plant-wide.  Previous experience in this arena is essential.
  • Complete work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards.
  • Analysis of tool performance (repair of tools to address quality and production concerns) and corrective action implementation.
  • Support other team members in tool improvements, technical problems and equipment builds where necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement innovation and initiatives to improve safety, productivity, profitability and efficiency.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as detailed in process documents, immediately bringing to the attention of the Supervisor any discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area at all times.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the Company.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Good attention to detail and strong ability to learn new techniques, systems and technologies.
  • Keep your skills current and be conversant with the latest developments in technologies and materials which are relevant to the Company’s business.
  • To take on other duties which the Company may assign you from time to time. These ‘other duties’ will be agreed with Management prior to any assignment.

Our expectations

  • Senior Trades Qualification in Toolmaking.
  • Minimum five years’ experience preferably in medical devices, but not essential.
  • Computer literate, must have a proven track record of set-up, programming and operating Wire EDM Machines.
  • Ability to operate tool room equipment - lathes, mills, surface grinders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Have excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, good team player who works well with colleagues.
