The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for completing all production testing requirements during the production shift to achieve the most favorable production cost, quality, safety and workmanship.

Your tasks

  • Assuring production material is tested in a timely manner
  • Assuring the correct product specification is used and documented
  • Analyzing all test reports noting unusual variation (or high ranges in test data) and follow-up appropriately
  • Assuring critical test properties (weight, thickness) are tested within 20 minutes of receiving the sample.
  • Assuring the new order checklist and hourly sample review checklist have been completed and placed in the proper location. 
  • Assuring daily housekeeping (including the tufting room) is maintained per shift
  • Assuring  the quality presentation is available and ready for the 7:45 daily quality meeting
  • Performing sampling and testing of Spunbond Fabrics including:
    • Cutting samples for testing
    • Preparing tufted sample by sewing fabric pieces together for tufting and tufting fabric for tufted portion of sample
    • Re-testing any ‘out of spec’ test
    • Grab and tongue tests from tufted fabric
    • Ensuring the Lubricant samples are taken every shift
    • Testing special requests on occasion
  • Assuring online weight and thickness calibrations are updated for all three lines for every test sample
  • Notifying Line Supervisor of any ‘out of control’ or ‘out of spec’ test results
  • Visually inspecting the rolls for correct packaging and put-up
  • Assisting the line in Startups and Shutdowns if needed
  • Releasing rolls that have good test results
  • Preparing and presenting in morning Quality meeting
  • Training an additional backup to fill-in in case of absence
  • Adhering to the company’s Attendance Policy

Our expectations

  • Preferred Requirement: Associate’s degree with 2 years of lab experience
  • Minimum Requirement: High School diploma or GED with at least 4 years of lab experience
  • Ability to work a rotating seven day schedule (12 hour shifts)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. waist high on a regular basis
  • Ability to climb to 30 feet on a regular basis
  • Ability to read and understand manuals and handbooks (written or on computer screens)
  • Basic math skills, i.e., calculating whole numbers, metrics, decimals and fraction
  • Mechanical aptitude highly desired
  • Basic computer skills (data entry and retrieval)
  • Strong verbal communications skills
  • Logical-thinking/reasoning skills
  • Prior Manufacturing Experience a plus
  • Ability to work as a team member of a work team in the effective operation of complex machinery in a safe manner
  • Position is located in Durham, NC
  • Position reports to the Lead Quality Control Coordiantor
