Job Summary:

This Quality Tech should ensure that product standards are met by performing quality responsibilities to examine and test quality of materials and product used in the lab and production areas.  The Quality Dept should maintain high quality standards of our products and address quality items with a high sense of urgency Works to produce a superior product of utmost quality to meet customer needs and expectations, while maintaining  a clean, safe work environment.  The successful candidate will have a confident attitude about being part of the team that achieves results and driving improvement.  Responsible for maintaining high standards of safety in the manufacturing environment.  Be an example of the guiding principles and code of conduct.

Quality Lab Technician

Your tasks

Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Freudenberg safety procedures and OSHA guidelines to ensure the safe operations of our equipment and the safety of our staff.
  • Maintain the high quality standards of a clean work area and machine daily, keeping area free of any unsafe conditions per Freudenberg guidelines. Report all safety hazards, machine problems, employee and safety incidents to the Team Lead and/or Supervisor/Manager.
  • Record and report to production out of spec test results and action limits.
  • Maintain the high quality standards of our products and address quality items with a high sense of urgency.
  • Work with Team Leads and employees regarding quality related items.  
  • Control of quality documents, records and standards including: Logging results in computer program, and log books and report on trends in product quality and provide analysis of possible contributing factors. Record oven temperature and speed from lines. Record and report to production out of spec test results and action limits.
  • Test samples of product to include measure and record weight and density of each sample, perform product shrinkage test and tensile strength of product.
  • Operate press machine.
  • Utilize dies to cut test samples.
  • Check retains for defects.
  • Ability to work in a constant changing environment  
  • Respond to any defects or issues with the machine, i.e., lights, alarms and visual indicators to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Perform product and grade changeovers based on the planning schedule
  • Detect and correct machine malfunctions by observing the operation of the machines.
  • Commit to and participate in activities of continuous improvement

Our expectations

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years manufacturing experience as a Quality Lab Technician is preferrable
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, safely and appropriately.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability and willingness to work in a constant changing environment
  • Team oriented, demonstrating ability and willingness to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Micsoft Excel or equivalent)
  • Attention to detail along with organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic mathematical

Work Environment:

  • This position will require the successfule candidate to work a 3 Rotating shifts work schedule as follows: (8 hours rotating shifts): 
    • 4 weeks on 1st shift (8am -4:30pm- Sunday thru Thursday),
    • 4 weeks on 2nd shift  (4pm-12:30am- Tuesday thru Saturday), and
    • 4 weeks on 3rd shift nights (12am - 8:30am - Monday thru Friday)
  • Work Rotating Schedule is af follows: 1st shift Sunday thru Thursday; 2nd shift Tuesday thru Saturday and 3rd shift night Monday- Friday; rotates every 4 weeks.
  • Works in temperature controlled environment.
  • Willing and able to stand on their feet for long periods of time and work flexible hours.
  • Moderate physical activity (lifting, stretching, standing).
  • High activity, multiple deadlines, constant interruptions.
  • Fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Position is located in Macon, GA
  • Position reports to the Quality Manager.
