The Production Manager is responsible for the overall direction, daily results, and general leadership of all kitting operations (custom packaging, value added services, and multi-level bill of material assembly) at the Freudenberg-NOK Distribution Center in Milan, Ohio. This position will meet organizational goals by focusing on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and leadership development. The Production Manager is responsible for a one-shift operation with a team that includes 4 direct reports, 11 shift leads, and 120+ hourly associates. This role reports to the Milan Operations Manager.
This position will have the responsibility and opportunity to shape the future of kitting for the Company world-wide as it will be a key user and influential stakeholder in the initial development, launch, and sustained success of a new SAP-ERP operating system including Extended Warehouse Management platform for material movement. The Production Manager will also have direct ownership for implementing a real-time visual management software solution, piloting pick-to-voice technology, and addressing safety, quality, and productivity enhancements. Preferred candidates have experience with world-class assembly processes, an aptitude for technology, and have proven to be successful change agents for the business. The Production Manager will need to balance competing priorities and develop action plans that deliver daily results for our customers while driving process improvement for the future.
Setting expectations, creating accountability, and managing the performance of the entire 120+ person team requires a coaching leadership style that constructively yields both business results and a positive cultural environment. Responsibilities also include selection, on-boarding, and oversight of training for new personnel as well as labor relations and problem resolution (including discipline). Strong candidates will demonstrate a willingness and ability to support ongoing development for the production leadership team along with cross-functional team building and employee engagement.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
General supervision of all associates and work processes in the kitting operations
Ensure timely and successful completion of daily build schedule requirements
Provide input and adherence to the annual budget, metrics, and performance review processes
Document work instructions as needed and ensure records are properly maintained through QMS
Champion lean initiatives and evaluate equipment/process capabilities to make recommendations for future improvements; work both independently and on project teams to analyze, design and implement process improvements using structured problem solving techniques and lean concepts
Effectively communicate with the product development and supply chain teams to coordinate efforts for new product introduction
Facilitate meetings and speak in front of large groups for regular business updates
BS degree preferred and/or 7+ years’ equivalent experience in a production or distribution environment
3+ years’ experience leading teams of people including productive labor management acumen
Experience with project management, problem solving, and lean/continuous improvement methodologies is required; understanding of OSHA, 5S, and ISO requirements preferred
Strong MS Office computer skills including an intermediate/advanced working knowledge of Excel with the ability to create, manipulate, and analyze data to drive action
Experience with SAP-ERP, WMS, (or equivalent) operational systems required; specific knowledge SAP-EWM or Bartender software a plus
Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills required
