Job Summary: 

The Network Architect plays a crucial role in planning, creating, maintaining, consulting, and modifying a network’s hardware, software and virtualized components and environments.

As Network Architect in our international team, you are responsible for the plan and design of our global network infrastructure and portfolio, with focus in the areas of Plan & Build, with very good knowledge of the Run. This professional should have in-depth knowledge of a network’s technological requirements and possess good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Network Architects usually know the ins and outs of the network appliance models/features/costs and can help a business figure out how to best plan and layout the network.

The Network Architect is responsible for solution design and business development, as they relate to network technologies. The Architect offers technical guidance on networking solutions, product plans and roadmaps, creates and designs relevant solutions keeping in mind the business environment. This professional must keep themselves updated with all the latest developments related to network technologies and innovations. This professional should be a team building, detail-oriented leader with extensive knowledge of various types of complex network technologies, network operating, security and wireless systems. Capable of simple design solutions and thinking.

It is the Network Architects responsibility to maintain the network portfolio to develop and include standards, professional proposals and design documentation. The Architect is expected to work closely with security personnel to help manage information security within the network structure and environment. They must take into consideration all the factors that might affect network security. This professional will be required to ensure security equipment is in place at all necessary network locations. Your tasks

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the big picture for the overall network design
  • Define standards and templates for new and existing sites and identify replacement needs
  • Help define and maintain the Technology Portfolio and site profiles
  • Make design proposals for new projects and site implementations
  • Review Non-Standard Demands and align with the business on what is required
  • Share experience and knowledge by being a coach for others in case of question, enable others to make sure the main focus is on architecture topics
  • Help to define the resource / capacity strategy for the team
  • Support maintenance / licensing and sourcing strategy
  • Assist in vendor evaluation, and continued external partnerships
  • Be a liaison between partner/vendor architecture resources

 

Our expectations

Position Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, as well as in-depth knowledge in design and planning network environment including WAN, VPN, switching, VLANs, wireless, security and general routing protocols such as BGP, HSRP, EIGRP and IGRP
  • Certifications in Networking, IT security or related areas of expertise such as Cisco CCENT or CCNA, and CCNP certification, desired. CCIE is a plus
  • Strong understanding of a global IT infrastructure and networks
  • Exceptional knowledge of Cisco technologies (e.g. Catalyst, ISE, ASA/Firepower, FlexConnect, and AnyConnect). As well as Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Public Key Infrastructure, authentication and proxy.
  • Interest in working in an international team on current and future-oriented topics, e.g. Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), Microsoft Azure, Software-Defined-Networking (SDN), NextGen-Firewall, Network Security.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Be able to work independent and as a team, structured, willingness to travel (20%, also internationally)
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Hands-on experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting cabling and wiring systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other communications/computer components.
  • Occasional inspection of cables and wiring in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, equipment and peripherals. 
  • Good English and knowledge of German, in speaking, reading, and writing is a plus.
