The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the completion of the day to day plant electrical maintenance activities including all predictive & preventive maintenance and restorative maintenance activities. The position will be tasked with inspiring the Electrical Maintenance Organization to world-class status by focusing on safe and productive workmanship to improve machine efficiency and utility. The position is expected to perform all of these activities while adhering to Freudenberg standards for safety, environmental awareness, quality, and other requirements of both internal and external customers. This position is also expected to take a leadership role in the overall Maintenance Department and drive a culture of Safety, Operational Excellence, and Accountability throughout the business.

Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

Your tasks

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of the assigned maintenance group to ensure all organizational maintenance needs are addressed and completed in a safe and timely manner
  • Oversee the coordination between the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Production Line Managers, and Production Scheduling in the scheduling of maintenance PMs and other work orders for the Electrical Group
  • Provide and sustain a safe work environment in accordance with all US and Freudenberg Safety requirements through implementation and development of safe procedures
  • Provide training & guidance to others on preventative & predictive maintenance strategies and CMMS systems
  • Provide skilled electrical maintenance and instrumenation support to assist in troubleshooting, correcting equipment malfunctions, and restore equipment to operation
  • Assist in performing root cause failure analysis to eliminate repetitive failures or chronic electrical maintenance needs
  • Participate in identifying and implementing effective maintenance strategies for new assets
  • Assist maintenance group in analyzing data, trends, and failure reports to determine equipment criticality, develop preventative & predictive maintenance schedules, and propose future capital allocation for key areas.
  • Assist in installations, repairs, and troubleshooting of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems including but not limited to PLCs, PCs, Power Distribution, Drives, and Test Equipment
  • Maintain Company-required performance and maintenance records
  • Other duties as assigned

Our expectations

  • 7+ Years of industrial maintenance experience working in a manufacturing environment, prior experience in Extrusion or Plastics Processing is a plus
  • Two-year technical degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronics, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Industrial Maintenance processes; formal training and certification is a plus
  • Instrumentation and controls experience required
  • Knowledge and training in NFPA 70E electrical safety
  • Electrical license or ability to obtain
  • PLC, HMI and AC drive experience required, Siemens and GE are a plus
  • Ability to support projects of various size and scope by efficient coordination of available resources. Experience using Microsoft Project management software is a plus
  • Ability to effectively lead in-house electricians and outside contractors to complete necessary electrical work
  • Ability to coordinate with people in cross functional areas, and adapt to change.
  • Experience in industrial networking with Ethernet, Profibus, and Profinet is a plus
  • Ability to program and trouble shoot PLC/HMI Systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to share rotating "on call" coverage when needed
  • Proven ability to resolve technical problems, identify root causes, and creatively resolve issues
  • Good command of basic math, reading and writing is a must
  • Must interact well with all levels of personnel both internally and externally
  • Excellent sense of safety awareness and good housekeeping
  • Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck and Arial Lift Equipment certification
  • Position is located in Durham, NC
  • Exposure to high voltage electricity up to 4160V, heavy equipment and moving machinery, as well as forklift traffic, requires a high degree of safety consciousness
  • Work environment may include exposure to heat, cold, noise and dust
  • Reports to Engineering Manager
  • Travel less than 10%
