Program & Quoting Engineer

Your tasks

  • Quoting Activities - Ensures that opportunities introduced are a strategic fit to the Lead Center. Coordinates costing activities with the Project Management Team.  Ensures that all cost assumptions and cost drivers are optimized and technically feasible.  Understands cost assumptions and challenges cost drivers where appropriate. Develops pricing and submits final quotes to the sales team.  Establishes acceptable pricing for new business opportunities by optimizing minimum margin requirements and target pricing from the Business Development team. Leads quote meetings within the lead center and acts as the single point of contact at the Lead Center for the Commercial Team specific to the support of new business opportunities.  Ensures that all quotations consider Lead Center resources, capabilities, profitability, strategic plan, and product liability and insurance concerns.  Utilizes Salesforce.com as the single CRM (customer relationship management) tool for inputs and outputs to the quoting process.  Measured by accuracy, clarity, and timeliness of quotation.
  • Lead Center Pipeline Management - Track quote activities and applicable metrics for the Lead Center.  Communicates the status of the Lead Center’s new business pipeline, and forecasts the realization of sales growth within the Lead Center.  Supports the Business Development team in the closure of new business opportunities by providing technical product support and by supporting iterative quotation activity driven by the customer.
  • Successful Launch of New Business - Conducts the appropriate contract review when the Lead Center receives a purchase order for a new product.  Leads project kickoff meetings to transition new business opportunities from the commercial process to the Project Teams at the Lead Center. Ensures a thorough understanding of the project scope and customer requirements. Once products are launched, performs a post launch review to ensure that the Project Team delivered a manufacturing process that meets or exceeds the quoted cost assumptions.
  • Product Profitability - Regularly prioritizes and evaluates low margin parts within the Lead Center and makes recommendations (cost reduction or pricing action) for appropriate action to ensure profitability.

Our expectations

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an engineering co-op or internship in a manufacturing environment focused on molding/extrusion/assembly operations.
  • Strong experience in injection molding or extrusion ( process and tooling )
  • Validation experience including (IQ,OQ,PQ) and project management skills preferred.
  • Experience with a metric driven culture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Experience with CRM software packages. 
  • In depth knowledge of project management tactics and tools; ability to multitask
  • Training or experience in lean manufacturing practices; lean certification is a plus
  • Business and management principles involved in production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team environment; high customer empathy and desire to enthusiastically serve.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications as inputs to the quoting process.
  • Business acumen including:  cost estimating, financial analysis, and ROI activities.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective leadership skills, strong decision making skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, track progress of projects and stay on schedule.  Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Travel as required (up to 10% )

  • Is responsible to lead the assessment, quotation, and kickoff of new business opportunities. Owns and manages the entire quotation process from initial RFQ (Request for Quote) through formal quotation, and delivers final quotation to the commercial team within specified lead times. 
  • Enjoys working independently and communicating in a team environment with a positive and can-do attitude to facilitate analysis and pricing of new business that fits the strategic needs of the organization.
  • Has a technical mindset to review new medical device manufacturing opportunities with an ability for critical thinking and logical problem solving.
