This role reports directly to the VP & GM of the Minimally Invasive Solutions US (MIS US) business and has responsibility for the continued advancement of the site's operational excellence maturity and lean six sigma transformation to achieve world-class results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.  Growtth® (Getting Rid of Waste Through Team Harmony) is the world-wide lean / six sigma program created by Freudenberg Group. This leader will be responsible for driving the operational strategy while leading the Growtth® lean six sigma transformation. The leader is responsible for building and maintaining a culture of continuous operational improvement.  This individual will provide direction, coaching, and guidance to the team while working directly with the rest of the leadership team. This position will help deliver tangible, bottom line financial value for the business by leading and coaching cross-functional teams to identify, implement and sustain projects that are critical for the organization. They will act as the key change agent for transformation through the implementation and application of lean/six sigma methodology and practices across all functions.

Senior Manager, Operational Excellence - Continuous Improvement
Proven Ability to Drive Change and Improvement in a Fast-Paced Medical Device Manufacturing Environment

Your tasks

  • Leads transformational business process improvements and is a change agent who can influence the organization and drive rapid positive changes.  Drives site-wide awareness and culture towards an inherent spirit of continuous improvement. Ensuring Lean Six Sigma becomes ingrained in the company culture.
  • Develop the MIS US operational strategy. Lead the development of the operational excellence plan in support of the overall strategy. Ensure proper promotion of the program through internal posting and advertising of successes and activities.
  • Ensure effective Growtth training of all FM MIS employees, and alignment of the program with FM MIS’s company objectives.  Create high levels of engagement and support of Growtth throughout the company. Actively work with the rest of the leadership team to perform gap assessments on the sites manufacturing system, create current and future state value stream maps, develops lean improvement plans and schedules.
  • Acts as a lean expert, providing recommendations, interacting and influencing the organization on lean approaches.
  • Drive continuous, measurable improvement in product development and manufacturing operations by leading teams in the use of appropriate lean tools and methods.
  • Leads cross functional teams through kaizen events and the implementation of the lean toolset. This includes process improvements, line balancing, standard work, 5S, cellular flow, material and information flow, quick change overs, TPM, scrap reduction, and many others. 
  • Provides on-going communication and progress reports to MIS US and Senior Management on Lean Six Sigma initiatives and the status of all cost savings activities.
  • Provides training, mentoring, coaching, and guidance on the Lean Six Sigma toolset.  Ensuring that training is accompanied by completed projects, recognition, and certifications.
  • Instill a culture of problem-solving and root cause analysis throughout the site. Ensure that every level within the site utilizes the proper problem-solving methodology and toolset.

Our expectations

  • 6+ years of Lean Six Sigma deployment in a manufacturing setting is required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Experience in leading the transformation of a manufacturing site through implementation lean six sigma methodologies while achieving targeted P&L savings.
  • Previous experience in leading OpEx initiatives across an entire manufacturing site.
  • Has had experience training in lean six sigma methodologies and has mentored individuals on projects.
  • Previous experience in medical device or pharmaceutical company is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Lean concepts (internal Freudenberg program and external best practices, i.e., Toyota Production System, Theory of Constraints, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and significant experience working with all levels of the organization and instils confidence, presence, and trust. Must be enthusiastic, proactive, tenacious, professional, and empathetic.
  • Exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
  • Application of change management concepts (PDCA cycle).
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of quality standards and validations, medical device governing bodies and documents, and safety. 
  • Demonstrated success influencing cultural change.
  • Possesses business acumen and a basic understanding of the P&L and balance sheet. Experience in identifying key opportunities that drive financial performance for an organization.
  • Demonstrated execution of a company/operational strategy at a site basis, while providing linkages to performance of day-to-day operations.
