The battery cell research engineer is responsible for designing, executing and managing daily activities associated with our lithium-ion cell technology. Key tasks include screening materials with various laboratory instruments, designing cells, analysis for manufacturability, root cause analysis and data processing. The ideal candidate is driven, seeks clear results and thrives in a team environment. Previous experience in lithium-ion cell development and manufacturing, a strong scientific, engineering or product development background is required.

Battery Cell Research Engineer

Responsibilitiesarrow_right

  • Design lithium-ion cells using expertise to optimize design parameters to meet product objectives
  • Design and perform experiments to validate cell designs and new materials
  • Perform calculations, simulations and models of battery cells and manufacturing processes
  • Work with battery research director to maintain program timing, objectives and deliverables
  • Develop new test methods and train other engineers, chemist and technicians on methods
  • Perform root cause analysis of various in-process samples, report to operations team findings
  • Continuous to improve development method, develop new analysis methods aiming to reduce product development time and improve reliability of data
  • Maintain results in an organized method and report clear and timely progress

Qualificationsarrow_right

  • BSc Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Engineering or similar relevant field
  • Experienced in lithium-ion cell design, materials, and manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of electrochemical principles of lithium-ion cells, familiar with current state of art and next generation opportunities
  • Strong data analysis background, familiar with Minitab and SQL highly desired
