We are seeking candidates who are local to Aurora, IL, with the ability to work on-site during the school year (~20-25 hours/week now, closer to 40 in the summer). The internship begins now, and is anticipated to finalize at the end of summer 2023.
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will plan, design, optimize, and monitor the manufacturing process to produce product to specification in the most cost-effective method. They have the appropriate product and process technical capabilities and are able support the Engineering team. As a member of the Engineering department, the Manufacturing Engineering Intern safely and efficiently executes projects that benefit the Company from a durability, quality, production, efficiency, and safety standpoint. Additionally, they consult with peers, process experts, and team members on decisions affecting the overall project while keeping in mind the business strategy, and needs of the plant, cost, timeline, and logistics. The Manufacturing Engineer Intern learns and understands various manufacturing processes and utilizes this knowledge to interact with other R&D departments, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and various other groups to implement new solutions and/or processes.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance mechanics, quality, and production, to monitor and improve the efficiency and ongoing performance of processes
- Support on design, installation, and commissioning new equipment
- Assist with the monitoring of modifications, upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes to improve equipment reliability
- Coordinate equipment fabrication, procurement, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting shop floor issues
- Develop production process specifications while assessing processes for their relevance and adequacy of the manufacturing equipment
- Track metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades
Qualifications
- Current college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (manufacturing, chemical, mechanical, or industrial preferred).
- Local to Aurora, IL, with the ability to work on-site during the school year (~20-25 hours/week now, closer to 40 in the summer). The internship begins now, and is anticipated to finalize at the end of summer 2023.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus (not required).
- Prior internship/job experience a plus, specifically within a manufacturing environment.
- Software: knowledge of mechanical design software and 3D modeling (SolidWorks a plus); intermediate MS Office including Excel; ERP (SAP) a plus.
- Ability to observe and troubleshoot process issues; understanding of manufacturing process flow with process analysis/modeling ability an advantage.
