Position Summary:

The Vice President of Purchasing & Supply Chain is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management functions. This role is responsible for defining, planning, and executing the purchasing and supply chain management function for XALT Energy. Approximately 50% of the responsibilities will fall within purchasing and the other half in SCM respectively; with overlap, as needed.

Develop and implement the appropriate strategy and support tactics for continued improvement of purchased raw materials, capital and indirect materials/services. Goals/responsibilities include developing best-in-class sourcing  and commodity strategies, driving cost reduction initiatives, coordinating raw material alternative sources and their qualification, optimizing production plans, inventories, and material utilization. This individual will oversee the budget and operating performance, along with key service, quality and cost metrics. As a key and contributing member of the management team, the successful candidate will be an innovative, strategically-directed assertive leader capable of creating and achieving  purchasing objects in support of the corporate business plan.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, a division of the Freudenberg Group, owns a minority investment in XALT Energy.  Although this position will initially report into the CEO of XALT Energy, in Midland, MI., the role could be expanded to also include global responsibilities for Freudenberg.

Your tasks

Primary Responsibilites- Purchasing:

  • Direct the completion, maintenance, and execution of thorough Market Analyses and Commodity Strategies
  • Develop and carry out strategies, policies, and procedures to facilitate the most economical and expeditious methods of purchasing materials and services on a company-wide scale
  • Forecast and anticipate the movement and behavior of key ingredients and commodities for the operating centers.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assess major suppliers for all product lines, particularly from the perspective of total cost, effectiveness, quality, and supplier base optimization.
  • Lead supplier visits and audits, including new supplier identification and vetting
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing Teams on New Product Innovation and Initiatives, particularly with respect to more efficient use of materials and/or lower cost materials
  • Continually drive the supplier development and innovation process to ensure state-of-the-art technology is available. Accordingly, facilitate the earliest possible supplier involvement in the internal product development process. Ensure reductions in product variation and proliferation are realized.
  • Ensure purchasing decisions are made as close to impacted processes as possible and create flexibility for unique regional requirements.
  • Upgrade information relative to future costs of purchased materials, availability, long-range market trends, alternate sources, risk mitigation, technological developments, and other related factors that impact future profitability.
  • Continue to refine and improve our toolbox and measurement systems.
  • Effectively provide the vision, strategy and counsel to senior management colleagues regarding the entire scope of purchasing activities for XALT Energy.

     

Primary Responsibilites- Supply Chain:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the supply chain strategy to support corporate goals including: demand planning, materials and inventory management, distribution, logistics optimization, and Sales & Operation Planning (S&OP)
  • Direct efforts to improve supply chain efficiency, maintain product quality standards, and reduce costs
  • Identify strategic alliances to meet our logistical needs
  • Oversee the develop risk management programs to ensure business continuity of supply in emergency scenarios

Our expectations

Position Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Business, Supply Chain, or Logistics  (B.S. acceptable with sufficient experience)
  • Minimum 10 years of purchasing and supply chain management experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical, financial and P&L skills
  • Career progress should emphasize purchasing/materials experience, particularly as coordinated with the activities of engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Experience in multiple supply chain processes, methodologies such as ERP, JIT, S&OP, Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Working knowledge of APQP and PPAP disciplines
  • Experience in electric vehicle programs, electronic modules, production and battery design and/or integration is preferred
  • Experience in designing with a wide range of materials manufacturing processes, and DFA & DFM disciplines
